Stephanie Beryl Fox is delighted and humbled to be honored by Legal Aid, an organization for which she has great respect and fondness. Stephanie hails from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey in Bergen County and now resides in New City. She graduated cum laude from Bryn Mawr College with a major in History of Religion and has a law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law. After law school, Stephanie practiced consumer bankruptcy in Camden, New Jersey for a sole practitioner. Upon relocating to Rockland County, Stephanie performed document review for McCarter and English in Newark and did telecommunications lease work for AT&T and Sprint. Upon being placed on hospital bedrest when pregnant with her twins, Stephanie decided to be a stay at home mother.
When her children were six, Stephanie learned of CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates – from a segment with Rosie O’Donnell on Good Morning America. She did some research on the organization and was instantly captivated by its mission: to speak up for abused and neglected children in the foster system. Stephanie thought that her love of children and her legal background would make her a good fit. She became trained as a CASA volunteer and was asked to join the staff a year later as a Program Coordinator. When the Mental Health Association of Rockland (MHA) took CASA over in 2013, Stephanie stayed on as the Program Supervisor, the sole employee. Stephanie enjoys training and supervising new CASA volunteers, selfless individuals who devote many hours to the children for whom they advocate.
Outside of work, Stephanie has served on the board of the Jewish Federation of Rockland, is a graduate of its Leadership Development Institute and is a past President of the Chaverot group of Hadassah, the women’s Zionist organization. She is also a past Vice President of the Rockland County Mother of Twins Club. Stephanie has been married for eighteen years to the love of her life, Richard, an artist, and is the mother of Naomi and Solomon, 15 year old twins, who inspire her in ways too numerous to count.
